Impact Byron would qualify on the outside pole and show great speed all weekend in Virginia. The driver of the No. 24 Chevrolet would lead 6 laps early on but that would be the limit of his time at the front. Byron would struggle a bit with handling in stage 2 but he would rally back in the final stage and cross the finish line for a strong fifth-place in the Cook Out 400. It was his second Top 5 of the season.

Impact Byron, who started the race in 13th, had a chance at a better finish after a fast pit stop with a little under 100 laps to go, but the No. 24 car faded a bit on the long run as the race stayed green for the final 91 laps. Byron got off to a bit of a shaky start to the season, but he has three Top-10 finishes in a row heading into Martinsville, a track where he has three Cup Series victories, including a dominant one last fall where he started on the pole and led 304 laps.
