Evan Carter - Receives injection for back
Carter said Wednesday that he received an injection to address discomfort in his ailing back and expects to resume ramping up his baseball activities Friday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS...
Impact
Carter was placed on the injured list Saturday due to back spasms, but the young outfielder doesn't appear to be tracking toward an extended stay on the shelf. Assuming the shot in his back yields the desired effect, Carter could start hitting, running and playing defense over the weekend before potentially heading out on a rehab assignment. With Carter out, the Rangers have been using Wyatt Langford as their primary center fielder, which has opened up more reps for Alejandro Osuna and Sam Haggerty in left field.

Rowdy Tellez - Idle versus lefty
Tellez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.
Impact
The left-handed-hitting Tellez will retreat to the bench for the second time in the series while the Rangers face another left-handed starter (Carlos Rodon). Tellez had started at first base in each of Texas' previous five matchups against right-handers, but he could see his opportunities to play versus opposite-handed pitching dwindle once Josh Jung is ready to play third base after a recent bout with a calf injury. Josh Smith will cover third base Wednesday while Jung serves as a designated hitter for his second start in a row, but Smith is likely to eventually move back across the diamond.

Rowdy Tellez - Drives in two runs in victory
Tellez went 1-for-4 with two RBI in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Yankees.
Impact
With a go-ahead two-run single in the eighth inning, Tellez recorded his most RBI since July 19 versus the Tigers. The veteran slugger should continue to see a boost in playing time while Jake Burger (quad) remains sidelined, and the former is at least pushing for additional at-bats in his own right. Through 30 at-bats (13 games) since joining Texas, Tellez is hitting .300 with one home run, three doubles and seven RBI.

Phil Maton - Tallies third save Tuesday
Maton picked up the save Tuesday against the Yankees, allowing one hit and no walks in a scoreless ninth inning. He struck out one.
Impact
Maton notched his third save of the season and his first since joining the Rangers. The veteran right-hander's usage signals that he's already part of Texas' high-leverage mix, but it remains to be seen how many more save opportunities he'll see the rest of the way. Through 41.1 frames, Maton has a 2.18ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 51:16 K:BB. It's also worth noting closer Robert Garcia had been dealing with a back issue recently, so it's possible the Rangers are easing him back into action.

Nathan Eovaldi - Nearly flawless over eight frames
Eovaldi (10-3) earned the win Tuesday against the Yankees, allowing one hit and no walks in eight shutout innings. He struck out six.
Impact
Eovaldi was nearly untouchable while setting a season low in hits allowed, as he kept a formidable Yankees lineup at bay Tuesday. The 35-year-old veteran right-hander fired at least seven frames for the third time in his past four starts, and he's been simply magnificent when healthy in 2025. With a 1.38 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 111:20 K:BB over 111 frames for the year, Eovaldi will be looking to keep the good times rolling next week at home versus the Diamondbacks.
