Justin Foscue - Hitting bench Wednesday Foscue is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.
Impact Travis Jankowski will get the nod at designated hitter Wednesday after Foscue went 1-for-13 with seven strikeouts while serving as Texas' DH in each of the past four contests. Even if Foscue shows improvement at the plate in his subsequent starting opportunities, it may not be enough to guarantee him an extended stay with the big club. Josh Jung (wrist) is restarting his rehab assignment Friday with Double-A Frisco, and Foscue will be the player most at risk of losing out on regular playing time once Jung is activated from the 60-day injured list.

Kirby Yates - Notches 18th save Yates picked up the save Tuesday against the White Sox, striking out one batter in two-thirds of a perfect inning.
Impact Yates took over with the Rangers leading 3-2 after Josh Sborz yielded a solo home run to Andrew Benintendi to start the ninth frame. Yates only needed six pitches to strike out Gavin Sheets and get Eloy Jimenez to fly out, earning his 18th save of 2024. The 37-year-old hasn't blown a save this season and holds a sparkling 1.22 ERA and 0.89 WHIP in 37.0 innings.

Jon Gray - Spins gem against White Sox Gray (5-4) picked up the win Tuesday against the White Sox, allowing one run on four hits and no walks across 7.2 innings. He struck out five.
Impact Gray finished off Tuesday's start retiring 15 consecutive batters and despite pitching into the eighth had thrown 80 pitches before being pulled. The outing marked Gray's first time exceeding six innings pitched since May 15. While he hasn't been a great source of strikeouts, having 78 Ks in 94.0 innings, the veteran lefty has been a reliable option, owning a 3.73 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP. He's on track to close out a two-start week Sunday in Toronto.

Jacob deGrom - Throws bullpen DeGrom (elbow) threw a bullpen session Tuesday and is expected to throw another one Friday when the team is in Toronto, MLB.com reports.
Impact DeGrom is estimated to have thrown between 40 and 45 pitches and had three up-and-downs Tuesday. "He looked good," Texas manager Bruce Bochy said. "It's pretty cool to watch how effortless it is, hitting 94 or 95 mph." Following Friday's session in Toronto, he'll throw a few live BP sessions before going out on rehab shortly after the trade deadline.

Impact Smith scored the Rangers' second run when he stole home on a double-steal in the first inning. It was his sixth steal in seven attempts. The infielder later gave the team a 3-1 lead in the eighth inning with a run-producing double. That insurance run became important when reliever Josh Sborz permitted a leadoff home run in the next frame. Impact Scherzer experienced arm fatigue during his last start Saturday, only managing to throw 53 pitches while allowing four earned runs in two innings in a loss to the Orioles. The issue seems to have subsided since then, and the Rangers are comfortable sending the 39-year-old veteran to the mound Thursday without giving him any extra time to recover. Scherzer will certainly have a favorable matchup during his next start, as the White Sox rank last in the majors in runs scored (319) and OPS (.625).
