Tyler Mahle - Double-A bound for next rehab start Mahle (elbow) is scheduled to make the fifth start of his rehab assignment Thursday with Double-A Frisco.
Impact Mahle has yet to allow a run and has struck out 11 batters over 9.1 innings over the first four starts of his rehab assignment, which has included stops at Double-A, Triple-A Round Rock and the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. The 29-year-old has been building up his pitch count slowly as he makes his way back from Tommy John surgery, as he tossed 46 pitches and 2.2 innings in his most recent outing for Round Rock this past Saturday. Mahle will likely need to push his pitch count in the 65-to-80 range before the Rangers are comfortable bringing him back from the 60-day injured list and slotting him into the big-league rotation.

Justin Foscue - Not in lineup again Thursday Foscue is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest against the White Sox.
Impact Foscue started at designated hitter in four straight games upon his promotion, but after going just 1-for-13 with seven strikeouts in those contests he'll now sit out for the second day in a row. Robbie Grossman will serve as the Rangers' DH on Thursday.

Kumar Rocker - Heading to Double-A Rocker will be activated from High-A Hickory's 60-day injured list and will be assigned to Double-A Frisco on Friday, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports.
Impact Even though Rocker made only six starts with Hickory in 2023 before undergoing season-ending Tommy John surgery last May, the Rangers have seen enough from the right-hander during his rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League to have him bypass a return to the South Atlantic League. Rocker built up to three innings in his most recent ACL outing and has turned in a 6.43 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 8:1 K:BB in seven innings through his three rehab starts. While Rocker's numbers haven't been overly impressive, Wilson notes that the 24-year-old experienced some bad luck on balls in play and showcased a wipeout slider and a fastball that comfortably sat in the upper 90s. Rocker will continue to build up his pitch count as he heads to Frisco, though the Rangers are still likely to manage his innings carefully for the rest of the season while he returns from a major arm injury.

Josh Smith - Two hits, two RBI in win Smith went 2-for-4 with two RBI in Wednesday's 10-2 win over the White Sox.
Impact Smith singled in one run then got another home on a sacrifice fly. With news that third baseman Josh Jung (wrist) is set to begin a rehab assignment Friday, per Kennedi Landry of MLB.com, the Rangers will soon have to find a home for Smith's bat. The most logical move is to have Smith become the team's primary designated hitter. Texas designated hitters are last in the league in batting average (.197), slugging percentage (.310) and OPS (.573).

Nathaniel Lowe - Homers, four RBI in win Lowe went 2-for-4 with a walk, a home run and four RBI in Wednesday's 10-2 win over the White Sox.
Impact Lowe gave the Rangers the lead for good, delivering a run-scoring single in the fifth then ended matters with a three-run home run in the eighth inning. He's hit safely in five of six games since the All-Star break, going 6-for-19 with two homers and five RBI. Lowe is batting .266/.356/.390 with eight home runs, 42 RBI, two steals and 36 runs over 81 contests.

Adolis García - Three hits, stolen base in win Garcia went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's win over the White Sox.
Impact Garcia recorded hits in each of his first three trips to the plate, topping things off with an RBI double in the fifth before also coming around to score following a fielding error from Luis Robert. It marked only the second three-hit game of the season for Garcia and his first multi-hit game this month. He's still batting .169 in July following Wednesday's performance, though he's now hit safely and driven in at least one run in back-to-back contests while also swiping two bags over that stretch to put him at nine steals on the season.

Corey Seager - Homer, four hits in win Seager went 4-for-5 with a double, a homer and three runs scored in Wednesday's win over the White Sox.
Impact Seager got the Rangers on the board with a solo shot off Chris Flexen in the first and then came around to score again in the fifth on an Adolis Garcia double to tie the game at 2-2. The shortstop went on to tally four hits on the night, something he hadn't done since March 30 against the Cubs, raising his average to .269 on the season and .311 in the month of July. Seager was just 1-for-14 since the All-Star break heading into Wednesday's contest while the long ball was his fourth this month. The three runs scored also marked a season high for the veteran infielder.

Nathan Eovaldi - Fans 10 in victory Eovaldi (7-4) picked up the win over the White Sox on Wednesday, allowing two runs on four hits over seven innings while striking out 10.
Impact Eovaldi struck out four of the first eight batters he faced on the night but coughed up runs in both the second and third innings. Fortunately for the right-hander, he was able to shake it off and cruise through the next four frames while allowing just one more hit over that span. Eovaldi induced 20 whiffs in the contest en route to posting a season-high 10 strikeouts. He's now gone seven innings in five of his last six starts and currently holds an absurd 30:0 K:BB in July. On the downside, he's also surrendered at least one home run in back-to-back starts and in three of his last four overall.

Impact Jung has already been cleared to begin a rehab assignment Friday with Double-A Frisco, so given Bochy's comments, Carter could be ready for a minor-league assignment of his own by next weekend. The outfielder has been on the shelf since May 28 with a lower-back stress reaction and made limited progress over the first month of his absence before turning the corner in his recovery over the past couple of weeks. Carter took live batting practice earlier this week and should gradually incorporate more baseball activities into his workout regimen before the Rangers map out a rehab assignment for him.

Josh Jung - Resuming rehab assignment Friday Jung (wrist) will begin a rehab assignment Friday at Double-A Frisco, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Impact Jung had previously played in four rehab games with Triple-A Round Rock from June 16 through 20, only to be pulled off the minor-league assignment when he experienced renewed soreness in his surgically repaired wrist. Just over a month later, Jung is ready for game action again after he was able to make quick progress through his hitting progression over the past week. He'll presumably remain on his rehab assignment at least through the weekend before the Rangers assess whether he's ready to return from the 60-day injured list. Jung should eventually settle back in as the Rangers' everyday third baseman, but he could be eased back from the IL as a designated hitter initially.
