Evan Carter - Likely out for regular season Rangers GM Chris Young said Tuesday that Carter (back) isn't expected to play again during the regular season, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact The 21-year-old has been on the shelf since late May due to a lumbar sprain, and it appears he won't be rejoining the Rangers until at least October. Young didn't indicate that Carter has suffered a setback, but that the outfielder simply needs more time to rest his back. Wyatt Langford, Leody Taveras and Adolis Garcia should continue to operate as Texas' primary outfield down the stretch, with veterans Travis Jankowski and Robbie Grossman serving as reserve options.

Impact With the Rangers acquiring Andrew Chafin in a trade with the Tigers on Tuesday, Hernandez will lose his spot on the roster in order to create space. The 28-year-old righty owns a 5.05 ERA and 1.59 WHIP through 41 innings on the year.

Josh Jung - Hitting seventh vs. righty Jung is batting seventh and starting at third base Tuesday against the Cardinals.
Impact The Rangers are facing righty Lance Lynn, and perhaps Jung will bat higher in the order against lefties if he shows he's knocked all the rust off. Jung, who last played in the majors April 1 before needing surgery on a broken right wrist, slashed .296/.345/.333 with one double, nine strikeouts and zero walks in 27 at-bats during his rehab assignment. Impact DeGrom is expected to throw two total bullpen sessions on this road trip before facing hitters. He threw between 40 and 45 pitches in a bullpen session a week ago, so deGrom's workload hasn't been increasing, although his intensity in each session could be progressing. Once he throws his final bullpen session this week, we could get an update on when and wear he will face hitters.

Andrew Chafin - Dealt to Rangers The Tigers traded Chafin to the Rangers on Tuesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Chafin has been one of the Tigers' top bullpen arms this season, logging a 3.16 ERA in 37.0 innings with eight holds and 50 strikeouts. The southpaw will join a righty-heavy bullpen in Texas and could be used as a setup man for closer Kirby Yates.
