Bubba Chandler - Hammered by Brewers Chandler (2-1) allowed nine runs on nine hits and three walks over 2.2 innings Sunday, striking out three and taking a loss against the Brewers.
Impact Chandler made his first career MLB start Sunday, and was greeted with a four-run first inning from Milwaukee. The Brewers scored another run in the second, followed by another four-run performance in the third. Chandler entered the game with a 2.25 in 12 frames out of the bullpen but saw that number quickly jump to 7.36 after Sunday's rough outing. The 22-year-old righty threw 43 of 68 pitches for strikes but generated only five whiffs. Chandler is currently lined up to start in Washington next week, though it's unclear if he'll stay in the rotation.

Mike Burrows - Returning to rotation Tuesday Burrows is listed as the Pirates' probable starting pitcher for Tuesday's game in Baltimore.
Impact In an effort to keep Burrows' workload in check down the stretch, the Pirates deployed him in relief for his last two appearances, but the right-hander will slot back into the rotation this week as Pittsburgh opens a three-game set in Baltimore. Even though he's starting again, Burrows' is still likely to be subject to an unspecified innings and/or pitch limit, making it difficult to count on him pitching long enough to qualify for a win. In his most recent outing this past Wednesday against the Dodgers, Burrows had piggybacked Braxton Ashcraft, but the two pitchers could reverse roles Tuesday. Ashcraft isn't listed as a starter for the series in Baltimore, so he'll presumably be available to work behind Burrows.

Mitch Keller - Out-dueled by Woodruff Keller (6-14) took the loss Saturday, allowing two runs on five hits over 6.1 innings as the Pirates were downed 4-1 by the Brewers. He struck out four without walking a batter.
Impact It was arguably Keller's best performance since the All-Star break, with a two-run homer by Jake Bauers in the fourth inning being the only blemish on his line, but the right-hander had no margin for error with Brandon Woodruff firing goose eggs over six innings for Milwaukee. The quality start was Keller's 17th of the season, one off his career high, but only two of them have come in seven outings since the beginning of August -- a stretch in which he's stumbled to a 5.86 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 36:11 K:BB through 35.1 innings. He'll try to build on this effort in his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come on the road next weekend against the Nationals.
