Corbin Carroll - Keeps running Monday Carroll went 1-for-4 with one RBI, a stolen base and one run scored in Monday's 4-3 extra-innings win over the Giants.

Impact Carroll has logged a steal in four of his last five games, giving him 33 thefts on the year. He had gone four contests without an RBI entering Monday before plating the Diamondbacks' opening run in the sixth inning. The outfielder is slashing .281/.360/.538 with 21 home runs, 58 RBI, 77 runs scored, 21 doubles and five triples over 102 contests.

Scott McGough - Converts ninth save McGough struck out two without putting a runner on base to earn the save in Monday's 4-3 extra-innings win over the Giants.

Impact McGough uncorked a wild pitch that moved the initial runner to third base, but that was his only mistake. The save was his ninth of the year and his second in a row, but McGough's chances to close are likely to dry up following Arizona's trade for Paul Sewald. McGough has a 4.30 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 65:20 K:BB with 13 holds and four blown saves over 52.1 innings -- he should be able to maintain a setup role, and his strikeout upside could keep him on the fantasy radar in NL-only formats.

Ryne Nelson - Turns in quality start Nelson allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out one over 6.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Giants on Monday.

Impact Aside from the lack of strikeouts, it was a strong showing for Nelson following his five-run mess against the Cardinals a week ago. The right-hander had quality starts in three of his six outings in July, though he continues to mix in fairly equal shares of good and bad performances. For the season, he's at a 4.84 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 75:36 K:BB through 119 innings over 22 starts. Nelson is projected for a road start in Minnesota this weekend.

Impact Through 324 plate appearances this season, Peterson holds a .637 OPS -- his lowest mark since 2019 (.599). However, the 33-year-old utilityman is slashing .313/.410/.438 since the All-Star break and will now provide Arizona with a hot bat off the bench that is capable of fielding nearly every defensive position. Peterson likely won't see many starts with his new team, but his versatility should be enough to get him into the lineup every once in a while.

Diego Castillo - Back in majors The Diamondbacks recalled Castillo from Triple-A Reno on Monday.

Impact Josh Rojas was sent to Seattle as part of the Paul Sewald trade, so Castillo will join the major-league squad to make up for lost depth. The 25-year-old infielder has yet to play in a big-league game this season, but he's slashed .340/.442/.450 across 370 plate appearances in Triple-A.

Impact This is a great landing spot for Sewald as it pertains to his fantasy value, as he shouldn't have any competition for saves in Arizona. He also has 55 career saves and is under team control through the 2024. season.

Slade Cecconi - Set to join big-league rotation The Diamondbacks plan to call up Cecconi from Triple-A Reno this week to replace the injured Tommy Henry (elbow) in the rotation, John Gambadoro of 98.7 FM Arizona Sports reports.

Impact Arizona has yet to confirm that Cecconi will be promoted, but the 24-year-old right-hander is expected to be formally called up Wednesday to start or serve as a primary pitcher later that day in San Francisco. While pitching in the hitter-friendly confines of the Pacific Coast League, Cecconi has posted a 6.38 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 103 innings. Keeping the ball in the yard (2.01 HR/9) has been an issue for Cecconi, but he's done a decent job of making bats miss (23.1 K%) while also keeping his walks in check (6.4 BB%). Cecconi could have some longevity in the Arizona rotation if he comes through with a serviceable outing in his MLB debut.

Impact All three runs scored against Kelly came in the first two innings but he eventually settled in and retired the final eight batters he faced. The 34-year-old righty has given up three or fewer runs in 15 of his 18 starts this season, resulting in a 3.23 ERA over 106 frames. He's allowed four runs in two starts since returning from a month-long stint on the injured list. Kelly's next outing is projected to be in Minnesota.
