J.J. McCarthy - Plays modest role again McCarthy was 12-for-23 passing for 141 yards and one interception during Saturday's 31-24 victory against Maryland.
Impact McCarthy looked like he was being capped as a passer by Michigan's play calling, as the team logged nearly twice as many rushing attempts as passing attempts. He also logged season lows in completion percentage (52.2) and yards per attempt (6.1). The junior quarterback has now attempted just 31 passes over the past two weeks, totaling 201 yards through the air over this span. McCarthy has not scored a touchdown over the last three contests, which doesn't provide much optimism for his production during the upcoming regular-season finale against Ohio State. It will also be worth closely monitoring the status of Michigan's No. 1 wideout Roman Wilson, who did not return after suffering an undisclosed injury in the first half, as he has caught 10 of McCarthy's 18 passing touchdowns this season.

Billy Edwards Jr. - Scores three rushing TDs in loss Edwards rushed four times for three yards and three touchdowns, and he did not attempt a pass during Saturday's 31-24 loss against Michigan.
Impact Edwards scored all three of the Terrapins' touchdowns, as the team employed him as a go-to scorer in its specialized goal-line package. The 6-foot-4 redshirt sophomore hasn't seen any truly significant playing time as a passer while sitting behind longtime signal-caller Taulia Tagovailoa this season. But, Edwards' value as a rushing quarterback proved extremely valuable, scoring three quarterback sneaks -- two on either side of halftime followed by another touchdown just before the end of the third quarter, pulling the game to 29-24. Edwards has now scored four touchdowns on just 11 carries this season, so it's unlikely he'll see anything close to Saturday's production during next week's regular-season finale against Rutgers.

Impact Corum logged a season high in carries for the second week in a row, as the Wolverines have leaned more and more into the running game over the last two weeks. The 5-foot-9 continued to cash out in the red zone when called upon. This was crucial as, while the Wolverines were once again able to methodically march the ball down the field, the team's passing offense has looked considerably more limited over the last two weeks, as it seems like the offensive coaches don't fully trust quarterback J.J. McCarthy (13-for-23 passing, 141 yards, one interception) to lead this unit in need-it scenarios. Wideout Roman Wilson (undisclosed) was also forced to exit early with an undisclosed injury. This could leave Corum with even more crucial carries during this coming Saturday's regular-season finale against Ohio State.
