Will Howard - Strong showing in Buckeyes debut Howard completed 17 of 28 passes for 228 yards and three touchdowns during Saturday's 52-6 victory versus Akron. Impact Howard got off to a slow start along with the rest of the Buckeyes' offense, which was breaking in new high-profile starters at a number of positions. Among them was true freshman wideout Jeremiah Smith, who caught each of Howard's first two touchdown passes in the first half. Howard's most explosive completion also came when he lofted a 45-yard pass for Smith who made a sliding, one-handed catch at the Akron one-yard line. The Kansas State transfer also lived up to his reputation as a true dual-threat quarterback, though he still easily trailed the team's extremely dynamic 1-2 punch at running back with Quinshon Judkins (13 carries, 55 yards) and TreVeyon Henderson (eight carries, 65 yards). Howard will look to continue to gel with his new teammates Week 2 versus Western Michigan.
