Report: Brandon Weeden doesn't want to play for the Cleveland Browns

Brandon Weeden lost his job as Browns' starting quarterback last season. Now, he reportedly wants out of Cleveland.

NFL Media columnist Michael Silver said Tuesday night that two sources close to Weeden told him the quarterback wants a fresh start.

Silver cites "turmoil within the coaching staff" and "lack of support from the most recent front office" as Weeden's reasons.

Weeden wants a place where he can "show he can be a productive player" in the NFL, according to Silver.

In his second NFL season, Weeden struggled. He first suffered a thumb injury that gave way to Brian Hoyer. Once Hoyer too went down, Weeden was given another shot under center but ultimately benched for Jason Campbell.

A first-round pick, the 30-year-old Weeden has thrown 26 interceptions to 23 touchdowns in his pro career.

What's next for the Browns at the quarterback position?

NFL Media insider Ian Rapoport said new general manager Ray Farmer's choice of the quarterbacks he scouted was Oregon's Marcus Mariota, who didn't enter the draft.

That could open the Browns more to drafting a position other than a signal-caller with their first round pick, Rapoport speculated.
