UCLA gymnast's amazing hip-hop floor routine takes Internet by storm

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 5:37 p.m. ET

An athlete had a game to remember in the twilight of their career in California this weekend.

No, we're not talking about Peyton Manning in Super Bowl 50. This was UCLA gymnast Sophina DeJesus, who whipped and nae-nae'd her way through a jaw-dropping floor routine some 350 miles south of Levi's Stadium at Pauley Pavilion on Saturday night and pretty much set the Internet on fire.

The 5-foot-1 senior and two-time All-American on bars won over the home crowd — and all things social media — when she busted out a stellar floor exercise that seamlessly integrated fierce Beyonce-worthy moves alongside her tumbling passes.

Her moves were so fierce her teammates couldn't resist joining along from the sidelines.

And then it basically brought the world to his feet (DeJesus scored a 9.925 for the routine, helping UCLA edge out Utah by .025 to win the meet).

"I love dancing," DeJesus, who has also appeared in a Missy Elliott video, said of her routine via the New York Times. "I wanted to end my senior year with a bang."

Mission accomplished. The video, posted on Facebook on Saturday, has since accrued some 23 million-plus views and made her the sensation of the weekend.

No offense to the Broncos, of course.
