The Winnipeg Jets will face the Detroit Red Wings tonight at Joe Louis Arena.
After 11 games , the Detroit Red Wings are 6-4-1. Now in the big scheme of things, that isn’t a bad record actually, however, the way the Red Wings have played the first 11 games is making fans in Motown believe that this season could be a roller-coaster ride.
It seems to be feast or famine for the Wings so far in 2016, and nothing in between.
After losing the first two games of the season, Detroit reeled off six straight wins and looked like the Red Wings fans have been waiting to see.
After the six straight wins, the have lost three straight and are hoping to end that skid tonight when they face the Winnipeg Jets at Joe Louis Arena.
The Red Wings blew two leads in Wednesday’s loss to the Philadelphia Flyers and eventually lost the game in overtime 4-3 The Wings started strong, taking a 2-0 first period lead thanks to goals by Dylan Larkin and Andreas Athanasiou. After the Flyers ted the game at 2-2, Henrik Zetterberg got his first goal of the season giving Detroit the 3-2 advantage.
Unfortunately for the Wings, Mark Streit tied the game for the Flyers with a minute left in regulation, and the Flyers went on to win in OT. Henrik Zetterberg thought the Wings let one get away.
“It wasn’t a perfect 60 minutes, but I thought we had enough good stuff out there to win,” Detroit captain and forward Henrik Zetterberg said.
Hopefully the Red Wings can start a new winning streak vs. the Jets tonight. The Red Wings are 4-2 at home while the Jets are 1-2-1 on the road.
Right now Detroit is tied for third in the Eastern Conference’s Atlantic division with Tampa Bay.
Las Vegas odds makers have the Red Wings listed as the favorite in tonight’s game at -175, with the over/under goal total set at 5.5.
