Toronto's Leo Komarov shares insight on home country ahead of World Juniors

The World Junior Championships will be held in Finland this year, and Toronto Maple Leafs forward Leo Komarov, a Finnish native, had some insights on his homeland to share with reporters and anyone else traveling to Finland for the tournament.

Komarov, it seems, does not recommend traveling to his home country in the winter, but he said anyone traveling there for the tournament will at least partake in the most popular Finnish winter activity.

Komarov also attempted to explain the legendary Sweden/Finland rivalry, claiming the two countries hate each other "in a good way" and likening Sweden vs. Finland hockey games to the Toronto vs. Montreal rivalry.

Komarov is in his third season of North American hockey and has already nearly matched last season's point totals in half the amount of games this season. The forward has 24 points (15 goals, nine assists) in 33 games this year compared to 26 points (eight goals, 18 assists) in 62 games last year.

"I can't say anything good about winter," Komarov told The Star. "You'll see a lot of darkness. Helsinki is a good city. But I don't know what to recommend about wintertime. The only thing you can do is watch hockey.

"There's nothing you can do. Or you can [go to] Lapland and see Santa Claus. That's an hour flight."
