Steve Ott brings more even more nastiness to Canadiens for playoff run

Steve Ott, Andrew Shaw and Brendan Gallagher are now all teammates on the Montreal Canadiens, and that sound you hear is opponents' blood already starting to boil.

The Canadiens added Ott, the 34-year-old veteran forward with a lot of nasty in his game, in a trade with the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday. Montreal sent a sixth-round pick to the Wings in exchange for Ott.

In 42 games this season, Ott has just six points (3+3) but is a penalty killer and that's an area of need for the Canadiens. He's also frequently been praised a being a very strong veteran presence in the locker room. He brings a cap hit of $800,000 and is set to become an unrestricted free agent at season's end.

In Montreal, Otts joins Shaw and Gallagher -- two other players notorious for being effective agitators. With that trio of sandpaper, the Canadiens hope to be a tough (and frustrating) matchup down the stretch and into the playoffs.
