From the standpoint of production, Eric Staal suffered his worst season in 2014-15 as a professional since his rookie season. His shooting percentage at 5-on-5 play was a mere 5.5%, and his ice-time dropped significantly as well.
Despite the down season from Staal, Hurricanes GM Ron Francis has offered no indication that he intends to move on from the captain, so expect a bounce-back effort from him next year.
