The Buffalo Sabres have called up goalie Nathan Lieuwen from the minors a day after starter Michal Neuvirth was sidelined by a lower body injury.
The Sabres on Wednesday also placed defenseman Josh Gorges on injured reserve, a week after he sustained a knee injury.

Neuvirth is out indefinitely after being hurt in the first period of a 4-1 win over San Jose. He appeared to be injured late in the period during a collision with teammate Tyler Ennis.
Neuvirth continued playing but did not return for the start of the second period, when he was replaced by Jhonas Enroth.
Lieuwen has a 3-4 record with AHL Rochester this season. He spent part of last season in Buffalo, where he went 1-4 in seven appearances.
