Police arrested a former Los Angeles Kings hockey player who currently serves as the team's assistant coach for allegedly sexually abusing his 21-year-old daughter, TMZ reported Friday.

Mark Hardy, 51, was arrested at the famed Mayflower Hotel in D.C. after his daughter told police Hardy "put his hand down (her) shorts and touched her genital area without her permission."

Hardy, a Swiss native, has two children, a daughter and a son, with his wife Kristina, according to Hardy's biography on the NHL Web site.

“We are aware of the charge. Due to the legal nature of this matter we will not have any additional comments at this time,” the Kings said, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Hardy is expected to face a charge of misdemeanor sexual abuse and will appear in court later Friday.

He played for the Kings from 1979-88 and from 1992-94.
