A very interesting piece from the old Maple Leaf Gardens will now be in the home of one lucky fan — the team's toilet.
According to a report by The Canadian Press, a lawyer from Barrie, Ontario, purchased the toilet for $5,300 in an auction.
Jim Vigmond, 55, bid on the toilet after the piece he really wanted, Toronto's 1967 Stanley Cup banner, went out of his price range.
"They thought I had money to burn, and surely there was something that I could have better spent my money on," he told The Canadian Press.
"They've got a point. But . . . it's a part of an icon. I just thought . . . what a rare piece and just think of all of the people that have spent time contemplating in that dressing room what lies ahead of them."
Vigmond said he plans to put the toilet in his sports room where he wants to sit on it and light up a cigar.
Maybe then, he would be sitting on the same throne as Leaf legends Dave Keon, Bobby Baun and Doug Gilmour.
The Gardens served as the Leafs' home arena from 1931-99.
