Report: Chicago to host 2017 NHL draft

According to a recent report by the Chicago Sun-Times' Mark Lazerus, Chicago will host the 2017 NHL draft.
This marks the first time in the history of the Blackhawks franchise that the city will host the event.
From 1963 to 1984, the NHL draft was held in Montreal. Since, several different cities have held the event. Now, the New York Rangers remain as the only Original Six franchise never to host the event.
The 2016 NHL draft will take place in Buffalo at First Niagara Center. USA-born Auston Matthews is projected to be the first-overall pick in the draft.
According to an NHL press release, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, Chicago Blackhawks Chairman Rocky Wirtz, Blackhawks President and CEO John McDonough, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Blackhawks Television Color Analyst Eddie Olczyk will take part in a press conference today at 3:00 p.m. CT.
