The Phoenix Coyotes have signed backup goalie Jason LaBarbera to a two-year contract. Terms of the deal weren't released.
LaBarbera, in his seventh NHL season, played 17 games behind Ilya Bryzgalov in 2010-11, going 6-3 with a 3.26 goals-against average. He had two shutouts, combining with Bryzgalov to set a franchise record with nine on the season.
The Coyotes traded the rights to Bryzgalov, who can become a free agent, to Philadelphia on Tuesday after determining they couldn't sign him to a long-term deal due to financial restraints because the team is still being run by the league.
LaBarbera has a career record of 52-55-14 with the Rangers, Kings, Canucks and Coyotes.
