It’s going to be really hard for the Philadelphia Flyers to send Travis Konecny back to Sarnia.

The Philadelphia Flyers have a big decision to make over the course of the next week. 19-year-old winger Travis Konecny has to either make the Flyers’ opening night roster or be sent back down to his junior club for the 2016-17 season.

He’s doing everything in his power to make it the former.

With two preseason games still left to play, Konecny has a legitimate chance of making the Flyers out of camp. Konecny has recorded two goals and two assists in the Flyers’ four exhibition games thus far, making him one of the team’s top scorers this preseason.

Konecny dazzled against the New York Rangers Monday night, finding twine with a greasy bank shot midway through the game’s second period. Early in the third, Konecny showed off his remarkable speed and agility as he sliced through the Rangers’ defensive zone, creating a golden scoring opportunity, but was unable to get a good shot off on Henrik Lundqvist.

Konecny is making it awfully difficult for the Flyers to send him back down to the Sarnia Sting. His speed and playmaking ability have been apparent throughout training camp and it’s hard to say he isn’t better than some of the forwards already on the Flyers’ roster.

While he still needs to add some weight and improve on his defensive game, Konecny has undoubtedly been one of the best players on the Flyers this preseason and keeping him with the big club may just be the right decision for Ron Hextall and company.
