The Pittsburgh Penguins have waived forward Ryan Craig and defenseman Andrew Hutchinson.
Both players are expected to be assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL) if they clear waivers. They were signed as free agents during the offseason.
Craig had 32 goals in 184 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning from 2005-10. Hutchinson appeared in 135 NHL games with Nashville, Carolina, Tampa Bay and Dallas before playing for Texas of the AHL last season.
The Penguins, who open the season Thursday at home against Philadelphia, also assigned forward Dustin Jeffrey to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
