Panthers prospect Montembeault shines in debut

Florida Panthers draft pick Samuel Montembeault put forth the performance he wanted in his first international contest.
Unfortunately for the 18-year-old Quebec native, the result wasn't desired as Canada suffered a 3-2 shootout loss to Russia on Wednesday in the World Junior evaluation camp in Calgary, Alberta.
"I really liked the experience," Montembeault told NHL.com. "It was my first international game. We didn't get the win at the end. We would've liked to, but we'll get them back."
A third-round pick of the 2015 draft, Montembeault made 18 saves - including a stop on Washington Capitals first-round pick Denis Gurianov's breakaway bid midway into overtime. Marat Khayrullin, however, was able to solve Montembeault in the third round of the bonus format to end the game.
The 6-foot-3, 180-pound Montembeault posted a 33-11-7 mark with a 2.59 goals-against average with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League last season.
