Oilers sign Kris Versteeg to professional tryout contract

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) The Edmonton Oilers signed veteran NHL forward Kris Versteeg to a professional tryout contract Friday.

The 30-year-old Versteeg, a two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Chicago Blackhawks, split last season with Carolina and Los Angeles, finishing with 15 goals and 23 assists in 77 regular-season games.

He has 131 goals and 182 assists in 550 games in nine seasons with Chicago, Toronto, Philadelphia, Florida, Carolina and Los Angeles. In 89 playoff games, he has 17 goals and 27 assists.
