The Edmonton Oilers signed promising 21-year-old Canadian center Sam Gagner to a two-year deal on Sunday.
Gagner, selected sixth overall in the 2007 draft, appeared in 68 games for the Oilers last season, scoring 15 goals and making 26 assists.
“Sam is a key part of our organization moving forward,” Oilers general manager Steve Tambellini said. “We are looking forward to him taking on a larger role with our club.”
Gagner's contract is worth $4.55 million over the two years, according to The Vancouver Sun.
