The New York Islanders haven’t played their veterans a lot during the preseason, thus allowing their youth exposure. Some have taken to it says Arthur Staple.
The most light is shined on Mathew Barzal as he is the one most likely to make the team out of the Islanders deep prospect pool. Barzal is a dynamic center who can be considered more of a play maker than a pure scorer.
Jack Capuano says it will be Barzal’s play when he doesn’t have the puck that will allow them to decide if he is ready for the NHL.

Arguably the most impressive kid has been Anthony Beauvillier, the 28th pick of the 2015 draft. He was even compared to Casey Cizikas by his coach, which is pretty high praise. He most likely doesn’t make the squad but he’s been good nonetheless.
I can’t forget to mention Josh Ho-Sang. His speed has really impressed me so far. The one downside with him is his lack of experience at the pro level, so he most likely starts the year in Bridgeport.
