Montreal Canadiens vs Boston Bruins: Habs Gameday Preview

A preview of the Montreal Canadiens match up versus the Boston Bruins.
The Montreal Canadiens will look to extend their current 2 game winning streak on the road against their arch rival, the Boston Bruins. The Habs will be coming into the game white hot as they have outscored their last two opponents 9-2 in their last two wins. The Canadiens have not lost in regulation time yet this season as their only loss came in a shootout vs Ottawa.
Bruins Offense vs Habs Defense
The Bruins have also built a solid start this season winning 3 out of their first 4 games. Brad Marchand has been a real key to the Bruins success so far this year recording 9 points in four games so far this season. Furthermore Marchand has developed good chemistry with line mates David Pastrnak and Patrice Bergeron.
More from A Winning Habit
This will create a fun match up to watch because Shea Weber will see a lot of Marchand during the game. However the Canadiens have had both great defensive play and great goal-tending. The Habs have only surrendered 6 goals in four games, which is good for second in the NHL.
Goalies In and Out
Carey Price will make his second straight start in goal for the Habs tonight. After missing his first 3 games because of the flu, Price looked great in his debut against the Coyotes making 27 saves in the win. The Habs will need Price to be sharp because he will be tested early and often.
Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask will be questionable for tonight’s game as he is dealing with a lower body injury. Bruins coach Claude Julien said that Rask was dealing with some “general soreness” which seems like a re-aggravation injury. If Rask is unable to go, expect Anton Khudobin to the start in goal for the Bruins.
Habs Balanced Scoring
A key for the Canadiens success this season has been because of their balanced attack offensively. The Habs currently have six players all tied for the team lead in points. The players are: Shea Weber, Jeff Petry, Brendan Gallagher, Max Pacioretty, Alex Galchenyuk, and David Desharnais who all have 4 points.
Most noteworthy however, is that all the Canadiens skaters, except for 3, have contributed at least one point in 4 games this season. Therefore, this balanced style of attack will be a key for the Habs, as the Bruins lack depth on defense. Claude Julien likes to line match, but this will difficult because all four Habs lines are being able to contribute.

Final Thoughts
I think that the Bruins will come out to fast start because they will be very motivated in front of their home crowd. Carey Price will need to make a few key saves early to help the Habs gain composure.
However, the initial Bruin wave will die out. Then Canadiens forwards will control the play along the boards due to the Bruins lack of defensive depth. This will lead to the Canadiens controlling the possession time and as a result the Habs will earn 2 points.
In conclusion I think the Habs win 3-2.
