Leafs name 28-year-old Dubas assistant GM; two execs let go
The Toronto Maple Leafs have hired Kyle Dubas as their assistant general manager, the team announced Tuesday.
Dubas, 28, has served as the GM of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League since 2011, when he became the second-youngest person in league history to hold the position. He previously worked as a scout and hockey operations assistant for the team and as a NHL agent.
"Kyle is a young executive that has made a strong name for himself in hockey with a progressive style, work ethic and maturation beyond his years," Leafs president Brendan Shanahan said. "He has a fresh approach that we feel will benefit our club for years to come."
The team also announced in the release that vice president of hockey operations Dave Poulin and assistant GM Claude Loiselle would not be returning for the 2014-15 season.
Dubas will serve under Toronto GM Dave Nonis.
