Hockey in Israel? Stars alums to host charity game against Israeli national team

BY foxsports • July 29, 2015

When people think of Israel in regards to sports, hockey would probably be one of the last sports to enter people's minds. But hockey is growing in Israel, so much so that Israel now has a national hockey team. The Dallas Stars alumni will get more acquainted with Israeli hockey when they host an exhibition game against the Israeli national team in September.

"While the Alumni Association is dedicated to helping support hockey programs in Texas, we jumped at the idea of taking on an international team and helping to grow awareness for the game of hockey in Israel," Stars director of alumni Bob Bassen said in a statement

The game will take place at Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco, Texas, and ticket sales from the event will benefit charity. The tickets range in price from $10-$50, and the Stars will give fans an incentive to buy by lowering prices for an Oct. 24 game against the Panthers to $10 when bought with tickets to the charity game.

Some of the alumni slated to participate include former goalie Marty Turco and former defenseman Brent Severyn.
