Wayne Gretzky knows a thing or two about putting together an impressive point streak.

The owner of an NHL-best 51-game streak set during the 1983-84 season, "The Great One" was quick to tell Sportsnet's "Hockey Central at Noon" on Wednesday that Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane's franchise-best 23-game stretch is considerable in its own right.

"What he's going through is maybe a little more challenging than what I had to go through," Gretzky said, according to NHL.com. "... The goaltenders in general are better today, the defense is better today, the players are bigger and stronger, so what he's doing he should be proud of."

That's high praise coming from the NHL's all-time leader in goals, assists and points.

Kane collected his 14th goal and 37th point of the stretch by scoring into an empty net with 1:36 remaining in Tuesday's 4-1 victory over the Nashville Predators. The tally was also the 600th point of the career for the top overall pick of the 2007 draft.

Kane looks to continue his good fortune when the Blackhawks travel to Music City to complete a home-and-home set against their Central Division rival on Thursday.
