Edmonton Oilers Trade Rumors: Nail Yakupov to Chicago

Edmonton Oilers winger Nail Yakupov is in danger of losing a spot on the Oilers roster. Not only has he failed to shine in many opportunities, the rise of Jesse Puljujarvi and Kris Versteeg move him even more down the ladder.
He could either start the season watching from the press box, or end up leaving Edmonton for another team. The latter does seem possible, as tweeted out by Barstool’s “Chief” Ryan Brandell, who covers the Chicago Blackhawks.

He earlier mentioned that he heard some speculation about the Blackhawks making a trade, and later found it to be Yakupov. Though nothing is confirmed, and this is all he is hearing, Brandell mentioned he is “80/20” sure it happens.
Oilers fans should take this lightly, as nothing has been confirmed as of right now. It’s just a rumor, and as Brandell said, should be taken with a grain of salt.
It is quite intriguing, however, that the Blackhawks would show interest in Yakupov. He’d be an interesting addition to the team on the wing, especially with Artemi Panarin’s breakout. He’d go great on the Hawks’ forward lines, espeically with Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Marian Hossa and Artem Anisimov making up some of that offensive depth.
Without a doubt, Yakupov would have a better chance at furthering his career and better developing with Chicago. He was never managed properly in Edmonton, and has become somewhat of the odd man out. If this trade goes down, Yakupov would have a better chance at excelling, and Edmonton may get a solid return.
The return for Yakupov may not be as high as the team hoped. Apparently, the pickings are slim when it comes to an exchange for Yakupov, and it could end up being a bottom-six forward, defenseman or even a draft pick. We’ll update you as more develops, but right now, take this lightly. Nothing is confirmed; it’s all speculation.
