As per Sportsnet, one of the names the Oilers are targeting is Tampa Bay Lightning centre Brian Boyle. The 6-foot-6, 244-pound forward has 13 goals and 20 points this season and is a proven scorer. Not only that, he is a big, physical veteran who has experience and plays a solid two-way game. He boasts a relative Fenwick of 4.2, and is a plus-7 this season.
If the Oilers were to be targeting Boyle, they likely want him not only for his size but for his leadership ability and his overall skill. Not only that, he is versatile enough to play any position, which makes him a fit for the Oilers on the wing as well.
Considering his skill-set, Boyle can bring a lot to this squad, and be their key to success as they continue to fight for a playoff spot.
One area of concern is that the Oilers do not need another left-hand shot, and that they are more in need of a RW than a C. With another face-off man, the Oilers may have more depth down the middle, but they have less they can do on the right wing. Unless of course, Boyle is there so that Draisaitl can play as a winger on the top line.
Overall, Boyle would be an excellent asset and pick-up for this team. They like to get big, physical bodies who can set up in front of the net and play a solid two-way game.
