The German winger started off the season with mixed reviews, slotting in as the third line centre. He couldn’t generate too much offense and seemed to struggle to find his touch. With Drake Caggiula coming in on the bottom six, Draisaitl got the opportunity to move back to the wing.
Playing alongside Connor McDavid and Milan Lucic, Draisaitl’s found more opportunities to create chances and get pucks on net. He has seven points in his last six games and is showing no signs of slowing down. His ability to keep up and work on the fly works well for the entire first line, and he has been absolutely lethal on the power-play as well.

The 6-foot-1, 214-pound forward also knows how to stand in front of the net, picking up loose pucks and even deflecting in shots. He’s a sharp shooter who is making the most of every opportunity, and in the end, this works out great for Edmonton.
Davidson Traveling with Team
The Oilers are headed on a three-game road trip, and traveling with the team is Brandon Davidson. He was injured early on in the season, and never got to prove his worth after a breakout campaign in 2016-17. Despite his absence, Edmonton has been getting by thanks to Kris Russell and Matthew Benning.
Now, with Darnell Nurse out long-term, Davidson will get his chance to play. He will likely replace Mark Fayne and draw in for an injured Nurse. This should only make Edmonton stronger and give them more chances to win hockey games.
The 25-year-old blueliner struggles with injury, but he has proven his worth as a reliable defenseman who can be physical and move the puck. By the same token, Davidson has great possession metrics and knows how to keep up with the play and outwork the offense.
The puck drops in Minnesota at 7:30 p.m. MT. Line combinations will remain as they were, with Jonas Gustavsson the only exception.
