Good Morning Chicago Blackhawks fans, The World Cup of hockey is about to kick off for real today after a bunch of exhibition games, so are you ready for this tournament?
The Chicago Blackhawks are still a few days away from the opening of their training camp, and if you’re looking for Chicago Blackhawks hockey in action the rookie tournament started last night in Traverse City with the Blackhawks prospects led by Nick Schmaltz losing 3-2 to the St. Louis Blues prospects.
Tyler Motte and Roy Radke had the two Chicago Blackhawks goals in their opening game of the rookie tournament, but fans will be looking more from the line of Nick Schmaltz and Tyler Motte in their next game that’s for sure.
The big news is hockey is back on ESPN today with the World Cup of Hockey tournament starting today. It’s been a long time since hockey at this level has been shown on the Worldwide Leader in sports.
It’s interesting that ESPN would pick up the rights to this tourney when it’s right in the middle of football season and all of the hype they give college football and pro football each week, but in the end I think it’s great that it will be on ESPN instead of some off network that never does sports like USA Network.
The world’s greatest players will be on the ice starting today trying to make the World Cup of hockey a must see event for years to come, the question is will ESPN do enough to make this come back four years from now!
