The Vancouver Canucks have signed centers Manny Malhotra and Joel Perreault shortly after the NHL's free-agency period opened.
Malhotra signed a three-year, $7.5-million contract Thursday that includes a no-trade clause within hours of becoming an unrestricted free agent. Last summer, he signed a one-year, $700,000 deal in San Jose.
Malhotra had 14 goals points while playing a shutdown role and killing penalties with the Sharks. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound center has scored 90 goals and 230 points in 705 games with the New York Rangers, Dallas, Columbus and San Jose.
Perreault will likely compete for a job on Vancouver s fourth line after splitting the last four seasons between Phoenix and its AHL affiliate.
