Canucks rookie Ben Hutton faces more doubt with hazy injury timeline

Published Nov. 23, 2015 4:03 p.m. ET

Vancouver Canucks rookie defenseman Ben Hutton has already missed two games with an undisclosed injury, and it looks like he is about to miss at least a handful more.

The 22-year-old rookie made the jump to the NHL after a collegiate career at the University of Maine. He was a surprise addition to the Canucks' roster this fall after impressing the team in training camp enough to earn a spot for Opening Night despite his status as an under-the-radar player.

Hutton is averaging about 18 minutes per game this season with the Canucks, a decent amount of time given his unfamiliarity with the league, and he has eight assists through 20 games. The Canucks originally recalled defenseman Taylor Fedun from the AHL in Hutton's absence over the weekend, but they sent Fedun back down Monday in place of 22-year-old defenseman Andrey Pedan.
