Canadiens sign D Alexandre Picard

The Montreal Canadiens have signed defenseman Alexandre Picard to a one-year contract.

The 25-year-old Picard had four goals and 11 assists in 54 games with Ottawa and Carolina last season. He was traded to the Hurricanes on February 12.

Picard has 16 goals and 41 assists in 193 career NHL games.
