The Buffalo Sabres won big against the Edmonton Oilers Sunday Night 6-2. The Sabres play again tonight in Calgary.

This season has started and as the Buffalo Sabres enter their third game, the Sabres will need to continue to show the offensive ability that they showed against Edmonton by going up earlier 2-0 on Edmonton.

Then even when they lost that lead to show that the team has the ability to score at any moment from literally anywhere on the ice.

I will be interested to see tonight if that will be able to continue into tonight’s game against a defensive mess in Calgary, who has only played three games  this season and has let up a league leading 13 goals against while only being able to score eight goals.

This is not different from last season for Calgary as  they also led the league in most  goals scored against. So seeing that Calgary is not very good on defense and at goalie this should be a big offensive game for the Sabres.

To pour a little more salt in this game the Flames are going to start former Buffalo Sabres goalie Chad Johnson in net tonight.

Another reason that the Sabres need to carry the game from Edmonton to Calgary is because this is a western trip that if it doesn’t go well will hurt the start of the season. The Sabres need to get out to a good start, to conclude a part of this western trip will head to Vancouver.

Then Sabres will return to the States and face Philadelphia in Philly.  The Sabres will return to Key Bank Center for the first time since the Home Opener to face Minnesota.

Tonight will also mark the NHL debut of Nicholas Baptiste who traveled with the team on the trip but did not get to play in Edmonton. Baptiste will be able to contribute to the offense in this game with his speed.

Baptiste will be put on a line with Derek Grant their chemistry was shown during th.e preseason. I think this chemistry between Baptiste and Grant will be something to look forward to in tonight’s game and more games going forward depending on how they do together tonight
