Bruins suffer serious blow as David Krejci knocked out of Winter Classic

The Boston Bruins received some bad news Monday as the team announced co-leading scorer David Krejci will be placed on injured reserve and is week-to-week with an upper-body injury. Krejci will not be eligible to play in the NHL Winter Classic on Friday.
Krejci was hurt in Sunday's loss to the Ottawa Senators and was wearing a sling on his right arm at the TD Garden on Monday, according to reporters. Bruins coach Claude Julien said the injury to another one of his team's centers will be a good test of character for a slumping Bruins squad.
Via The Boston Globe:
Krejci is tied with Patrice Bergeron for the team lead in points with 33 tallies (11 goals, 22 assists) in 35 games. He had points in four of his last five games and goals in each of his last two games before leaving Sunday's game with the injury.
Chris Kelly is likely out for the season after breaking his femur in early November, and Joonas Kemppainen has been out since Dec. 8 with an upper-body injury.
"Right now, as you know, we’re being challenged because right down the middle, we’ve gotten thin where we used to have a lot of depth," Julien told reporters. "We’re talking about Krejci, we’re talking about Joonas Kempainen and we’re taking about Chris Kelly. The team takes a bit of a shot when you lose that many guys. Having said that, this is an opportunity for us to show some character and go in there and find ways to win hockey games and find ways to continue to compete."
