Brayden Schenn knows value of secondary scoring for Flyers

Forward Brayden Schenn is aware that the Philadelphia Flyers need more secondary scoring.
Sure, captain Claude Giroux (team-leading 12 goals and 29 points), Jakub Voracek (club-best 21 assists) and Wayne Simmonds (10 goals, 12 assists) draw the headlines as the team's top line, but Schenn told reporters that more is needed out of the younger stars. The 24-year-old Saskatchewan native held up his end on Tuesday by collecting a goal and two assists in the Flyers' 4-3 victory over the Montreal Canadiens.

"We need more out of us. We can't rely on 'G', Jake or 'Simmer' to score every night. Most nights, they will, but some nights it won't go in so you need that secondary scoring to win hockey games."
Schenn has scored in back-to-back contests while playing on a new line with Sean Couturier and Michael Raffl. The fifth overall pick of the 2009 draft, Schenn has recorded 67 goals and 86 assists in 310 career contests with the Los Angeles Kings and Flyers.
Philadelphia coach Dave Hakstol is trying to ignite a sputtering offense that is averaging just 2.16 goals per contest. That total is 29th best in the league, ahead of only the Anaheim Ducks (1.89).
The Flyers (16-15-7) mustered just five tallies en route to getting swept during a three-game road trip through California prior to the win over Montreal.
