Blues' D Kevin Shattenkirk gives new update on health

Kevin Shattenkirk returned to the Blues' lineup almost 10 days ago after missing three weeks of action with a groin injury. But Shattenkirk was not quite himself when he first came back, and it was not until recently that he said he actually feels 100 percent himself again.

"Last game against the Rangers, I really felt that I was moving my best," Shattenkirk told reporters ahead of Saturday's game against the Blackhawks. "I felt like I had nothing holding me back physically or mentally. The speed of the game is something that I’m still catching up to and making plays at the right pace. But everything else, all of that feels good."

The return to full health coincided with increased ice time for Shattenkirk, who played 20:45 in the game against the Rangers and improved to 23:53 in a loss to the Blackhawks Saturday. Shattenkirk played just 17:31 in a Nov. 10 game against the Devils. The defenseman also recorded an assist on Saturday, his first point since Oct. 10.

Shattenkirk's return is good news for the Blues' power play, which went 3-for-8 since his return and was just 3-for-37 while he was out.
