Blackhawks recall top prospect Teravainen from minors

The Chicago Blackhawks have recalled top prospect Teuvo Teravainen from the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs.

The move could be an indication that forward Kris Versteeg will be out for an extended period. Versteeg left Thursday's Winter Classic against Washington after he blocked Eric Fehr's shot with his left hand early in the third period of Chicago's 3-2 loss.

A first-round draft pick in 2012, Teravainen debuted with the Blackhawks last season and appeared in three games. The 20-year-old Teravainen ranks second on the IceHogs with 23 points (six goals, 17 assists).

The Blackhawks announced the move on Friday. Chicago hosts Dallas on Sunday.
