AHL club rebrands Twitter account to honor John Scott

Published Feb. 1, 2016 10:31 a.m. ET

John Scott was the talk of the NHL this weekend, even though he plays for the St. John's IceCaps of the American Hockey League.

Well, the Montreal Canadiens' affiliate found itself on the defensive after fans on social media were asking the IceCaps to rename the team in honor of Scott's Most Valuable Player-winning performance in Sunday's NHL All-Star Game.

While St. John's stopped short of changing its team name, it ultimately bowed to public pressure and altered its official Twitter account.

So, if one is looking for the latest news and views from the AHL club, please keep your eyes open for "St JohnScott IceCaps" to move across your Twitter feed.

Scott scored twice for the Pacific Division representatives in their initial victory over the Central Division roster. The Pacific group advanced to the final and posted a 1-0 triumph over the Atlantic Division representatives.

That's not a bad offensive showing for Scott, who recorded just five tallies in 285 career NHL contests.
