Wilson only offensive player among Seahawks' seven Pro Bowl selections

Buoyed by a spectacular late-season surge, quarterback Russell Wilson was among seven players for the Seattle Seahawks to be named to the Pro Bowl on Tuesday night.

Five members of Seattle's defense - cornerback Richard Sherman, safeties Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor, linebacker Bobby Wagner and end Michael Bennett - joined rookie Tyler Lockett (special teams) and Wilson as honorees.

The Seahawks, who have clinched a postseason berth, matched the Arizona Cardinals with seven selections, second only to the Carolina Panthers' 10.

Wilson is in the midst of a brilliant stretch in which he has thrown for 19 touchdown passes and zero interceptions during Seattle's five-game winning streak en route to earning his fourth trip to the Pro Bowl.

Thomas was selected for the fifth time in six seasons, Chancellor nabbed his fourth honor and Sherman was named for the third time. It was the fourth time in five seasons that three players from Seattle's Legion of Boom secondary were named to the Pro Bowl.

Wagner earned his second Pro Bowl nod while Bennett was named for the first time. Lockett's selection as return specialist marked the third time in franchise history (1984, 2005) that Seattle had seven players picked for the Pro Bowl.
