Will Eddie Lacy be a Green Bay Packer in 2017?

Can you predict if Eddie Lacy will be back with the Green Bay Packers in 2017?

In 2013, a horrible draft class, running back Eddie Lacy looked like he may be the gem of it. He came out of Alabama in the second round and went over 1,100 yards in his first two seasons. The Packers weren’t a one-dimensional team at that point.

And there were able to win in the playoffs, in inclimate weather. But after those first couple of years, he started to gain weight and get a little out of shape. And with his conditioning went his health as he has missed time to injury the last couple of years.

Lacy averaged 5.1 yards per carry this season but has been out since Week 6 because of his ankle. And it can’t be a coincidence that these injuries come when he reported overweight and out of shape. This offseason, he is scheduled to hit the free agent market.

And it is not known if the Packers will keep Lacy or if they well let him walk in March. The key here is if the organization can trust Lacy to stay in shape and keep his weight down to 235 pounds. There were reports that he was as high as 265 pounds early this season.

How Christine Michael and James Starks play down the stretch and possibly the playoffs is big too. Starks just got a $6 million deal for two years last offseason. Lacy has said that he wants to remain with the Packers but told ESPN he’s not sure what happens.
