What could Ryan Tannehill's new deal mean for Cam Newton?
In case you missed it, the Miami Dolphins paid their young signal caller Ryan Tannehill on Monday afternoon. Tannehill's deal was a six-year, $96 million contract with $45 million guaranteed. As David Newton of ESPN points out, this contract was awarded to a quarterback with "a record of 23-28 with no playoff or Pro Bowl appearances."
Now the question becomes, how will things play out for Cam Newton in terms of his new contract?
It's pretty safe to assume that Newton's camp is going to ask for more than what Tannehill received and it could be near what ESPN reported Russell Wilson is asking for.
"According to reports, Wilson's representatives are looking for a long-term deal for around $120 million with anywhere from 60 to 80 percent guaranteed."
It may be time for Cam to get paid sooner than later. Could it happen this offseason?
