Vikings welcome Timberwolves pick Karl-Anthony Towns to Minnesota
The Minnesota Vikings' neighbor held the No. 1 overall pick in Thursday night's NBA Draft, and the Timberwolves used it to select Karl-Anthony Towns, a 19-year-old center from Kentucky. The Vikings did not waste any time making Minnesota's newest star feel welcome.
Towns to The Cities! Welcome to Minnesota @KarlTowns!

Before the Towns selection, the Twin-Cities hadn't picked first overall in any of the four major sports since the Twins selected Joe Mauer with the first pick in the 2001 MLB Draft. The Vikings have picked first overall in the NFL Draft twice but not since 1968, when they picked Hall of Fame tackle Ron Yary out of USC.
The only other time the Vikings made the No. 1 pick was when they were an expansion team in 1961. With that pick, Minnesota selected running back Tommy Mason out of Tulane.
