Minnesota Vikings players have voted to back the right of the NFL Players Association to decertify in the event of a lockout next year.
The Vikings are the 16th group of players to vote that way, meaning half the league has now done so.
Decertification would give the union a chance to sue under antitrust laws if there is a lockout. Without decertification, the union would have to wait six months to file a suit after the collective bargaining agreement expired.
NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith says the votes are a move to protect the players in the event of a lockout.
