The New York Giants have remained confident that Victor Cruz will have an impact this season despite the fact that he missed all of 2015 and most of 2014. He’s endured a few setbacks along the way this offseason, but it sounds like he’s getting closer to a long-awaited return.

According to the New York Daily News, Cruz is expected to play against the Jets on Saturday. On Tuesday, head coach Ben McAdoo simply said “Yes” when asked if he plans to get Cruz in the game.

If Cruz does indeed play, it will be his first NFL game – preseason or regular season – in nearly two years. The last time he played a snap was on Oct. 12, 2014. Of course, it’s still not certain he will make his debut.

Cruz still has to make it through this week’s practices, which is by no means a given for him.

"We'll find out more today and tomorrow, but I'm looking forward to seeing him,” McAdoo said. “It was nice to see him in the uniform in pre-game the other day."

McAdoo stressed the importance of Cruz seeing some game action before the regular season gets underway in a few weeks.

"Yeah, it's important," McAdoo said. "It's the game. That's what he's looking forward to, and that's what we're looking forward to seeing him do."
