Ty Warren placed on IR, Burgess reports

New England Patriots defensive end Ty Warren is out for the season with a hip injury.

Warren, a starter for the last six of his seven seasons since the Patriots drafted him in the first round, was placed on injured reserve Friday. He missed most of the team's practice sessions in training camp and sat out Thursday night's exhibition opener, a 27-24 win over New Orleans.

The Patriots also announced that linebacker Derrick Burgess had reported to camp after considering retirement. Coach Bill Belichick said Burgess passed his physical and conditioning test Friday.

The team reinstated Burgess from the reserve-did not report list. He came to New England last summer in a trade with the Oakland Raiders.
